Getting Started

This guide walks you through setting up your GTIN1 account and creating your first Digital Link in under 5 minutes.

Setup Wizard

When you sign up for the first time, GTIN1 walks you through a three-step setup wizard that creates everything you need to get started.

Step 1: Create Your Organization

Enter your organization name and select your industry. The industry selection helps GTIN1 tailor your experience.

Available industries:

  • Food & Beverage
  • Electronics / Consumer Tech
  • Cosmetics & Personal Care
  • Pharmaceuticals / Health
  • Industrial / Packaging
  • Apparel & Textiles
  • General / Other

Step 2: Create Your Brand

Enter the name of your brand. This is the brand that owns your products. You can add additional brands later from your dashboard.

Step 3: Add Your First Product

Enter your product name and GTIN (barcode number). GTIN1 accepts GTIN-8, GTIN-12, GTIN-13, and GTIN-14 formats.

Don't have a GTIN yet?

Check the "I don't have a GTIN yet (use a demo barcode)" box to use a generated demo barcode. You can replace it with your real GTIN later.

What Gets Created

After completing the wizard, GTIN1 automatically:

  1. Creates your organization with the selected industry vertical
  2. Activates a 14-day Growth trial giving you access to advanced features
  3. Creates your brand under the organization
  4. Creates your first trade item with a valid GTIN
  5. Generates a Digital Link that's immediately scannable

After setup, you'll see your Digital Link URL and QR code. The Digital Link follows the GS1 standard format:

https://gtin1.com/01/00012345678905

You can:

  • Copy the URL to share it anywhere
  • Download the QR code as SVG or PNG
  • Scan it with any smartphone camera

Next Steps

From the success page, you can:

  • Add product details - images, descriptions, and additional information
  • Visit your dashboard - see metrics and manage your catalog
  • Add more products - create additional trade items one at a time
  • Bulk import - upload a CSV file to import many products at once

Classic Setup

If you prefer the traditional multi-page setup flow, click "Use the classic setup instead" at the bottom of the wizard page. This takes you through the standard organization creation form followed by the industry vertical selector.

You can also bypass the wizard directly by appending ?classic=1 to the organization creation URL (e.g. https://gtin1.com/organization/create/?classic=1).
