Product Registry

Manage your product catalog, trade items, and brand data in a centralized registry that powers the Digital Link resolver.

Overview

The GTIN1 Product Registry is the central database for all your product information. It stores trade items with their GTINs, brand associations, product attributes, images, and metadata. The registry is the foundation for barcode generation, Digital Link resolution, and traceability.

Key Capabilities

Trade Item Management

Register products with their 14-digit GTINs. Each trade item record includes product name, description, brand, images, and custom attributes. GTIN check digits are validated automatically.

Brand Organization

Group trade items under brands, and brands under organizations. This hierarchy supports companies with multiple brands and product lines while maintaining clear ownership and access control.

Lot and Serial Tracking

Create lot (batch) records and serial numbers for your trade items. Lots capture production run information, while serials enable individual unit tracking. Both are linked to the parent trade item and participate in Digital Link resolution.

Image Management

Upload product images that are displayed on hosted product pages and in consumer-facing experiences. Multiple images per trade item are supported with primary image selection and priority ordering.

Bulk Import and Export

Import products from CSV files for rapid catalog onboarding. Export your catalog data for integration with other systems, audits, or backup purposes.

Integration with Other Features

The Product Registry is connected to every other GTIN1 feature:

  • Resolver -- Trade items and their lots/serials are the resolution targets for Digital Link URIs
  • Barcode Generation -- Barcodes are generated from registry records, ensuring data consistency
  • Traceability -- EPCIS events reference trade items, lots, and serials from the registry
  • Analytics -- Scan data is attributed to specific trade items for per-product insights
  • Consumer Experience -- Hosted product pages pull content from registry records
